Comments:
The first batch of three ships was handed over to the Turkish Navy on 12 January 1998. The first ship sailed to Turkey and arrived in March 1998. FFG 10 Duncan was transferred for cannibalization
With the commissioning of Standard SM-1 missile, Turkish Navy has now the ability to perform area air defense. The CIC of these ships are modernized under the GENESIS program.
As all the ships were the short hull version of Perry class prior their transfer, they were operating SH-2 Seasprite helicopter in USN service. The flight decks of the first four ships was been extended and ASIST Helicopter landing aid was integrated by Istanbul Naval Shipyard so that these ships can operate, the newly acquired S-70-B2 Seahawk helicopters.
