Comments:
These ships are the first results of the modernization program started in 80'ies. The last two were built in Turkey.
They are very popular in the Navy as they offer better and a bigger punch, defense and accommodation. They are named after famous sultans of the Ottoman Empire, except TURGUTREİS who was a famous sailor. The name of that ship was quickly changed from Turgut to TURGUTREİS, after her commission, because of political critics, as the name of the Prime minister of that time was also Turgut.
